Safehouse Protects What is Truly Valuable

Six thousand Fundred artworks are exhibited at Safehouse, the Operation Paydirt headquarters in New Orleans. Safehouse is a former residential dwelling that has had its front façade sculpturally transformed into an operable 10-foot diameter bank-vault door, complete with a rotary combination lock. Inside, the four walls of Safehouse are covered with a brilliant display of Fundreds. The armored truck will officially depart from Safehouse before beginning the cross-country pick-up.

Safehouse served as a Fundred gathering and drawing space and Operation Paydirt Headquarters in New Orleans from October 2008 through January 2010. Safehouse is a former residential dwelling that had its front façade sculpturally transformed into an operable 10-foot diameter bank-vault door, complete with a rotary combination lock. Inside, the four walls of Safehouse were covered with a brilliant display of thousands of Fundreds, with additional bills housed in a custom Fundred vitrine. Nearly 9,000 Fundreds were exhibited at Safehouse until the bills were collected and the armored truck officially departed from New Orleans to begin the cross-country pick-up.

Safehouse is made possible in part with support from Transforma Projects for New Orleans / National Performance Network with major contributions from the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts and the American Center Foundation. SAFEHOUSE is hosted by KKProjects and Jaohn Orgon.
